EverQuest II Adopts Expansionist Agenda (PC)
SOE's popular MMORPG will see a steady stream of content updates.

John Smedly, Sony Online Entertainment's President, revealed the company's plans for EverQuest II today, as it pertains to expansions. In his lengthy post on the game's official message boards, he laid out the form that all further expansions to the game will take. Traditional expansion packs will be released twice per year, with separate teams working on each. These will be available on both retail and online channels, and Smedly promised that the first such expansion will offer gameplay innovations as-of-yet unseen in an MMORPG.
More interesting are what Smedly called "Adventure Packs" in his post. These he likened to adventure modules that supplement traditional pen and paper RPGs. Think of them as theme parks within the world of Norrath -- essentially standalone, story-driven adventuring areas. Players will get access to the first "level" of these for free, and can opt to purchase access to locked area. Full access to the first Adventure Pack will cost $4.99US, and Smedly mentioned that all subsequent expansions of this nature will cost more or less that. He also stated that Station Access members may receive full access to EQII Adventure Packs as part of their subscription.
On top of these pay-for-play expansions, Smedly mentioned that EQII's live team will continue to churn out free updates to the game as many as twice per month. While these will primarily focus on balance and bug-related issues, he promised they'll also bring with them much in the way of new content.
We'll keep our eyes peeled for any further news on EQII's coming expansions, so check back here soon.
Just thought I'd post that for anyone who doesnt read Gamespy.
